In 1894 the first University of Oregon football team took the field. Now over a century later, the Oregon Ducks are a household football name. The Oregon Ducks play in the NCAA Division-I Pac-10 Conference. The Oregon Ducks team has had recent success making a post-season appearance for the last 12 season except for the 2004 season. Most recently the Ducks football team played in the 2008 Holiday Bowl against Oklahoma State and won 42 to 31.


The Oregon Ducks roster has historically been a very strong line-up. Between 1996 and 2008, the University of Oregon Ducks have had five players be drafted in the first round of the NFL draft. Including Jonathan Stewart who has drafted in 2008 to play for the Carolina Panthers. Other notable Ducks players include Gary Zimmerman, Dave Wilcox, Norm Van Brocklin, Dan Fouts and Mel Renfro all of whom have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
